Tyne & wear - The Daily Mile™ celebration day

Let’s Get Tyne & Wear Moving!

  • When - Wednesday 12th June 2019

  • Where - Your own school premises

The Daily Mile is fully inclusive and non-competitive, and evidence shows that just a 15-minute burst of exercise, breaking up the normal school day, is enough to help children increase concentration and enjoy the associated positive physical and mental health benefits.

We would like to raise the profile of The Daily Mile and in supporting the initiative, schools are helping to supplement the 30:30 campaign which features in the latest version of the Government Childhood Obesity Plan.

To celebrate the growing number of schools delivering The Daily Mile, we invite all schools to put down their pencils, step outside their classrooms and join the community for a 15-minute run. Let’s see how many pupils and staff we can get out enjoying the fresh air together on one day - Please share all your photos, videos and stories with us via Twitter - @tynewearsport.

It doesn’t matter if this is your first try or if you do The Daily Mile regularly already - just join in the fun! Plus all schools taking part will receive a participation certificate!

We will be recording the number of schools participating as well as the number of students and staff taking part, to determine the day’s overall success.
