TWS Policy and Documentation:
It is vitally important that all organisations involved in the delivery of sport and physical activity have an active safeguarding policy. Our Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy can be downloaded below. On this page you will also find guidance about how to share sensitive information.
We are extremely committed to safeguarding children, young people, and adults at risk, and the statement below was signed off by our Board of Trustees in January 2018.
Statement of Commitment
Tyne & Wear Sport is fully committed to promoting the safety and welfare of children, young people, and adults at risk engaged in sport and physical activity locally. We have achieved the advanced level of the NSPCC Child Protection in Sport Unit's (CPSU) standards for safeguarding and protecting children in sport, and are continually working to improve our safeguarding practices.
Tyne & Wear Sport aims to contribute to safeguarding children, young people, and adults at risk by:
Meeting the requirements of the Standards for Safeguarding and Protecting Children in Sport (CPSU 2002)
Implementing and demonstrating best safeguarding practice when employees and others working directly under the auspices of Tyne & Wear Sport are providing services, activities and programmes for children, young people, and adults at risk
Raising awareness of the importance of safeguarding, and supporting those working in sport and physical activity by giving them the knowledge and guidance of what they need to do to safeguard children, young people, and adults at risk, and minimise avoidable risks
Requiring those individuals or organisations that are funded or commissioned to provide any services for children, young people, and adults at risk to effectively address safeguarding requirements
Maximising its influence by promoting effective safeguarding principles and practices to its wide range of partners.
Tyne & Wear Sport’s trustees and employees are fully committed to the principles within this statement.
