South Tyneside College

Inspirational coach Shakila Ahmed and next generation coach Alex Fontaine were nominated by College Sport Maker at South Tyneside College, Chris Reay to receive the #PassOnYourPassion baton.

Chris said he had nominated Shakila because: "she has demonstrated excellent commitment throughout her time volunteering at South Tyneside College. Initially, Shakila volunteered as part of her main course programme and helped in the development of the programmes run at the college through her attitude and commitment. Since leaving college and going to university, Shakila continues to volunteer one full day per week within the Sport department and at a Table Tennis session. Shakila has spent a significant amount of time working with students who have a range of disabilities and encouraging them to participate in sport."

Shakila is passing her passion for coaching on to Alex Fontaine who, since joining the college, has shown a true passion for football and supporting others to play the game. Her commitment has been recognised by the college who recruited her to the role of Football Activiator and she has now been appointed to the new role of Female Football Development Apprentice at the college. She will look to develop opportunities for females at the college and in the community.

We will now be working with both Shakila and Alex to support them to achieve their goals in coaching and personal development.
