Tyne and Wear school students become National contenders

Students won a recent School Games Regional Badminton tournament, securing their place in the National Final. The Regional winners were, KS3 Girls for Emmanuel College, KS3 and KS4 boys for Gosforth Academy.

The success is a unified triumph for all schools and organisations involved, including School Games organisers and Tyne & Wear Sport. There will be many talented students across the North East competing in the national final, and our congratulations and support goes particularly to those from the sub-region.

Another recent School Games event that saw Tyne and Wear students compete in was the British Rowing Northern Regional Final. There were 12 heats throughout the day and 10 schools from across the sub-region took part.

Many of the students from Tyne and Wear representing their school finished in the top three of their race. The team effort and determination throughout the Rowing competition was extremely high and it is an event to look out for in the future, especially for teachers wanting to get their students involved with sport.
