Good coaches inspire people to get active and to stay active. Our coaches, volunteers, leaders, instructors and helper motivate us to keep going and inspire others to take up coaching.
Chelsea barker - football coach
I have been playing football since I was 6 years old where I signed for a local boys team Blackbrook Football Club in my home town of St. Helens, Merseyside. When I was 11, I signed for Everton WFC and spent most of my football career within this club developing as a player and a coach.
julie robertson - canoe volunteer & coach
I hale from an inner city deprived area on the West of Scotland. Not the usual starting ground for outdoor sports! Sailing and outdoor activities showed me a different Scotland and I was hooked.
Colin gardener - triathlon coach & volunteer
I work part time for British Triathlon coaching the North East Regional Academy age group 14-19 years on the performance pathway. I also volunteer coach our triathlon club kids/junior section along with several other coaches on various levels. In the winter I run training camps in Southern Spain for age group athletes and some of the older Academy group.
Jess Harris - Junior Coach at Tyne Amateur Rowing Club
I rowed for 6 years as a junior myself in Durham, with great local and national successes. However, my university rowing was cut short due to injury, leading me to take up coaching at the local club.
Elizabeth Brown - Level 2 Netball volunteer Coach
I am currently a volunteer Netball coach for Beacon Netball Club, based in Whitley Bay, North Tyneside. I coach at the club 2 hours per week, and coach/ umpire the C Team and junior teams along with my fellow coaches.
Tina Shaw - Level 2 Weightlifting Coach, Level 3 Personal Trainer, Level 2 Technical Official for British Weightlifting
I am a Olympic Weighlifting Coach at Cube Weightlifting Academy, North Shields. I specialise in the Olympic lifts, but also coach powerlifting and sports specific Strength & Conditioning.
