Mark works as a Leisure Assistant at The Parks Sports Centre in North Tyneside. Over the last few years he has dedicated his time and efforts into developing and delivering disability sport opportunities. Mark delivers a wide variety of activities including; archery, trampolining, rebound therapy and boccia, and he is always looking to expand the disability programme at the centre.

Mark’s motivation and enthusiasm is infectious, and the growing success of the sessions is a credit to him. He always takes full advantage of opportunities to develop himself and recently completed his run leader’s qualification to allow him to include a Friday morning run session at the centre. The participants at the sessions are growing in confidence and several now attend Mark’s walking groups which are open to disabled and non-disabled people.

Michael Scrafton, Leisure & Well-being Activator for North Tyneside Council, said “Mark is highly motivated about disability sport and always has a big smile on his face which transfers onto his participant’s faces by the end of the session! His passion and commitment to disability sports has led to the centre being known locally as the disability hub in North Tyneside, where people of all abilities can come and try new sports whilst making friends for life.”
