Project Officer (Inactivity & Inclusion)

My role at Tyne & Wear Sport is to support the charity’s work in reducing levels of physical inactivity within Tyne and Wear, by helping to ensure that the charity’s work is open and inclusive to all and that a range of opportunities to partake in physical activity are available throughout the sub region. A key part of my role is to work closely with underrepresented groups such as women & girls and those with disabilities, where traditional levels of engagement in sport and physical activity have been particularly low.

I graduated from Sunderland University with a 1st class honours degree in Sports Coaching in 2017. I then worked as an Activity Instructor at the Calvert Trust, delivering a variety of outdoor activities to children and adults with a range of physical and mental disabilities. I also worked as a Sports Tutor at a Pupil Referral Unit, before joining Tyne & Wear Sport.

I have always had a keen interest in sport, through playing, officiating, coaching and volunteering. I played Rugby for over 10 years and have also completed the Great North Run and Coast2Coast Cycle Challenge. I am a regular gym goer and enjoy following Newcastle Falcons, Newcastle United and the Oakland Raiders.
