Who are Tyne & Wear Sport?

Tyne & Wear Sport is a charitable company limited by guarantee, incorporated in March 2010. The company was established under a Memorandum of Association which established the objects and powers of the charitable company and is governed by its articles of association.

We are one of 44 county sport partnerships across the country. We are funded and supported by Sport England, other national bodies and a wide range of local organisations. You can find out more about the CSP Network by clicking here.

How does Tyne & Wear Sport work?

Our role is to provide strategic leadership and operational support to those who plan and deliver sport and physical activity in Tyne & Wear. Consequently, our purpose is one of offering guidance, information, insight and expertise to achieve a fundamental and sustained increase in the number of people participating in sport and physical activity. We are particularly focused on helping under-represented groups, who have higher levels of inactivity, to become and remain active and provide support to those who run sport and physical activity.

More detailed information about Tyne & Wear Sport can be found in a range of strategic documents here.

We achieve the above by working with a wide range of local, regional and national partners. You can find out more about who we work with by clicking here.
