Sunderland LSCB Safeguarding Children Procedures
There are five Local Safeguarding Children Boards (LSCBs) in Tyne & Wear, which were formed as a statutory requirement of the Children Act 2004. They are based on local authority boundaries, and function to coordinate local work to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, and to ensure the effectiveness of that work.
Sunderland's LSCB was established in October 2004. It has a main board with strategic heads of agencies within Sunderland and a number of groups who carry out specific functions in relation to the LSCB’s responsibilities.
In April 2008, Sunderland LSCB updated their Safeguarding Children Procedures. These can be downloaded by clicking here.
Sunderland City Council adhere to these procedures, and subsequently so do Tyne & Wear Sport.
