Your Responsibilities
This section gives information about the responsibilities that you as a parent should follow to help ensure a safer sporting environment for your child:
- always ensure that the child, young person or vulnerable adult that you are responsible for has the correct equipment, footwear and clothing, and a suitable drink. They should also have suncream and warm clothing if needed
- ensure that the club/organisation/coach has an emergency contact number for the participant(s) that you are responsible for, and inform them of any injuries, illnesses, disabilities or medical conditions etc. You must ensure that your child has any required medication with them, including inhalers
- be punctual when dropping off/picking up your child
- act in accordance with the club's/organisation's Code of Conduct for parents/carers. If watching a session, always encourage and respect all participants, coaches, officials, volunteers and other parents, and treat them fairly, equally and with sensitivity. You should always promote and encourage fair play, and maintain exemplary behaviour at all times
- ensure that the individuals that you are responsible for know and understand the participant’s Code of Conduct, and who they can talk to if they have any concerns
- be aware of the club’s/organisation’s policies and procedures, including knowledge of how and when to report a concern, allegation or disclosure about possible abuse or poor practice
- report any instances of unacceptable behaviour, such as discriminatory, offensive or violent behavior, so that they can be investigated and acted upon.
