London 2012 Launch Legacy Initiatives

Published 16 February 2010

The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games has launched two initiatives aimed at kick starting the Olympic Legacy.

From the 1 to 3 May Discovering Places Weekend 2010 is set to take place across the country. The project is aimed at helping the public discover and explore the fantastic array of buildings, public spaces and natural places in and around the towns and cities in which they live. For more information about how to get involved in this initiative please download the documents below.

Additionally, the London 2012 Open Weekend takes place on 23 to 25 July and is aimed at marking two years until the games officially open in the capital. Local authorities, sporting and cultural organisations and venues across the UK are being asked to set a ‘challenge’ for the public to take part in – it could be anything from building a new piece of art in 24 hours to hosting a sport themed treasure hunt.
