Change4Life To Help Adults Lose Their Spare Tyres

Published 18 February 2010

After a successful first year the Change4Life initiative is set to launch a new campaign to encourage adults to alter their eating habits.

The new television and poster adverts will air from Saturday 20 February under the slogan of “Swap it, Don’t Stop it”. The aim is to help adults make simple, healthy changes to their diet.

This new direction follows a successful first year in which the focus was on young families. One million mothers who signed up to Change4Life say that the campaign has helped them try to change their children’s eating habits. Additionally, latest data shows that child obesity is finally levelling out.

The shift in focus from young families to adults has been attributed to a recent study published by the National Heart Forum that predicts a near 100 percent rise in diabetes by 2050 unless action is taken. According to the report other diseases such as coronary heart disease, hypertension and strokes will also increase.
