£5000 available from Team England Footballers

Published 01 August 2008

The Team England Footballers Charity Outreach Programme is looking to support 11 projects across the country. The initiative forms part of the Team England Footballers Charity (TEFC) established by the England Football players last year following their decision to forego their England match fees to charity.

The charity is looking to source a further 11 projects across England that engage with disadvantaged young people in the local community. The intended outcome would be to engage young people by supporting community football projects that otherwise don’t have the ability to tap into other local or national funding streams (e.g. the Football Foundation, Sport England, local authorities). They are hoping to be able to select one project from the Tyne & Wear area.

“We want to provide much needed opportunities and outlets for young people to benefit through football, whether that is purely participating in activities or gaining coaching qualifications to better themselves and the community they come from.” Rio Ferdinand

A £5,000 fund is available for each project which could be used to sustain an existing project, or to set up a new project within the local community.

The Criteria

The criteria for the project being suitable for the initiative are as follows:

If you are aware of any projects that you feel would be suitable for the TEFC Outreach Programme fund, please complete the attached form and return it to xerxes.setna@tynewearsport.org.

Please note that only one project for Tyne & Wear will be selected.
