Gateshead Storm Rugby Club Annual Awards Night

Gateshead Storm Rugby Club held their annual awards night to celebrate the successful year the club has had. Coaches, parents and players all attended the British Legion Club in Gateshead for a Halloween themed night.

One of the highlights of the year for the club was seeing some of their players as ball boys and mascots alongside West Yorkshire team, Castleford Tigers who were playing at St James Park in the Dacia Magic Weekend. The Dacia Magic Weekend showcases all of the Betfred Super League’s biggest derby matches over one weekend and Gateshead Storm got the chance to witness all of this on their door step.

Another highlight of the year was taking the players to the Super League Grand Final in Manchester to support their home side.

Some of the teams played at a Newcastle Thunder game during the half time and also became ball boys and mascots for that game.

Awards from the 2016 awards night went to a range of players but a couple to name were, the under 8’s Coaches Player went to Joel Richardson, the under 10’s most improved player went to Kyle Palmer and the under 12 most improved went to Andri Inta.

This has been a great success for Gateshead Storm and as one of our Club Network clubs, we at Tyne & Wear Sport will continue to support them in achieving their goals in 2017.
