1. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The Tyne & Wear Disability Sports Forum has the following aim:

- To promote and share examples of good practice, and the sport and physical activity opportunities available to people with disabilities, across the organisations within the partnership.
- To better inform the general public of the sporting opportunities available for people with disabilities.
- To support people with disabilities into performance pathways to help them to realise their potential.
- To lead on the organisation of sub-regional, and contribute to planning and delivery of regional, competitions and events.
- To develop and promote appropriate training opportunities.
- To seek to attract funding for the development of disability sport in Tyne & Wear.
- To provide support and advice in relation to disability sport issues.
- To work to resolve, or seek clarification over, other issues/queries highlighted by members of the group.
2. MEMBERSHIP
Membership of the group will consist of representatives from the following:
- The Tyne & Wear Sport core team
- English Federation of Disability Sport
- A Sports Development Officer from each of the five local authorities
- A School Sports Co-ordinator (SSCO) from each of the five local authority areas
- Percy Hedley Sports Academy
- A Competition Team representative.
Representatives of other organisations may be invited to attend the meetings following agreement from the group.
In addition to the Tyne & Wear Disability Sports Forum, there will be separate Local Authority Disability Sport groups which will link into it. Up to two representatives from each of the LA groups (a Sports Development Officer and SSCO) will attend the Tyne & Wear Forum to update on their work areas and detail their priorities etc, then feedback via their LA meetings. Hence, some individuals/organisations will link into their appropriate LA group rather than the Tyne & Wear Forum.
