Regional Sports Equity Network (RSEN)

The RSEN is a unique collaboration between Sport England, the four County Sports Partnerships in the North East (Durham Sport, Northumberland Sport, Tees Valley Sport and Tyne & Wear Sport)and the region's Sports Equity Organisations (EFDS, WSF & BECON). The North East is the only region in the UK to have developed a RSEN so far.

The role of the RSEN is to ensure that equity issues are kept at the top of the sports agenda, so that, in the future, people who have traditionally been marginalised from sport will have an equal opportunity to engage in sport at all levels, including community and elite participation, volunteering, coaching, employment and leadership. The network work closely to develop an integrated approach to equalities so that, rather than focusing on particular groups of people, multi-disadvantage is revealed and tackled.
