David Marrin

Job Title: Assistant Director - Widening Access

My role involves working with our partners to ensure that equity and child protection are at the heart of their provision. I take a lead for Tyne & Wear Sport in the development of Community Sports Networks (CSNs) and ensuring that local priorities both reflect and influence regional and national strategies.  My remit also involves ensuring that there is full engagement of sport and physical activity with wider social and economic agendas, including health, community safety, regeneration and social inclusion.

My previous jobs include working for Derwentside District Council for three years in the roles of Physical Activity Co-ordinator and Assistant Sports Development Officer, and I have also worked for Durham Sport as one of their Partnership Development Officers.

I have been interested in sport from a very young age, particularly football, but I also enjoy playing golf, squash and skiing.  I am quite a keen runner and completed the Great North Run in 2005 and 2006, being pipped at the post by a guy dressed as a dinosaur and another carrying a rucksack full of bricks.  I enjoy working in sport and trying to encourage more people to include physical activity within their lives.
