Job Title: Assistant Director - Club & Workforce
In my role I am responsible for working with sport clubs, coaches and volunteers and those organisations responsible for their management and development, such as National Governing Bodies of sport, sports coach UK and School Sport Partnerships. Together we aim to plan and implement mechanisms to improve recruitment, retention and recognition of coaches, volunteers, administrators and officials, as well as the development and quality accreditation of clubs.
I joined Tyne & Wear Sport in 2004 following two years as a sports development officer for Sunderland City Council.
I have always had a keen interest in sport, both participating and watching. I was a national swimmer for over ten years, as well as representing my school in a number of sports. These days, I enjoy playing football, cycling and going to the gym (when injury free). I am a season ticket holder for Newcastle United FC and go to the occasional Newcastle Vipers ice hockey match.
