Back the World Cup Bid

Along with the 2012 Olympics, 2014 Commonwealth Games, the 2015 Rugby World Cup and the 2019 Cricket World Cup, the FA is aiming to bring either the 2018 or 2022 FIFA World Cup to the United Kingdom and cap a fantastic decade of sport.

Tyne and Wear is better placed than almost any other area in England when it comes to being part of the World Cup. Both NewcastleGateshead and Sunderland have been selected as host cities by the campaign team and will host games if the bid is successful.
