Businesses from across Tyne & Wear rose to the challenge once again to prove they’re fit, fast and fun at the Active Workplace Games on Thursday 25 February, competing in a dozen sporting challenges including laser shooting, handball, golf, tennis, athletics and more.

Held at Temple Park Leisure centre and organised by Tyne & Wear Sport, the companies that took part in the exciting four hour event were Gentoo, Elanders, Foundation of Light, Johnson Controls, NHS Business Service Authority, Northumbria Healthcare NHS (two teams entered), Northumberland Tyne and Wear NHS Psychiatric Liaison Team (two teams entered), Proctor and Gamble, Virgin Money (Gosforth Office) and Newcastle Falcons

Taking the crown at the end of the event as Active Workplace Games Champions were Johnson Controls for the third time running with Gentoo coming a very close second and Procter and Gamble finishing in third.

Caroline Green from the NHS BSA said, "We really enjoyed the Active Workplace Games as we were given the opportunity to try new sports, or ones which we haven’t done for a number of years and also partake in team activities with colleagues that we wouldn’t necessarily usually work closely with on a daily basis".
